Why do I look up to the sky?

Is it because my grandpa’s letting me know he didn’t really say goodbye?

Am I looking for answers?

Or is it to be closer to my ancestors?

The stars in the night shine like the tears in my eyes.

Has the sky witnessed all of my heartbreaking goodbyes?

The stars carry my memories, the good and the bad.

They remember everything I’ve had.

The stars have been there all my life.

They are the only ones who haven’t said goodbye.

They are always there, watching over me.

The stars are the key.

They have never left me feeling alone.

Wherever they are, means that’s my home.

Because no matter where the military may place me,

Whether it’s in the U.S. or overseas,

Even if life isn’t always fair,

They will always be there.
