People like me are everywhere,
Not allowed to stay in one place,
Some people have a choice
But that’s not my case.
I’ve seen everything, everywhere
Scattered like dandelions in the air.
It’s 2 years and then I’m gone,
Always watching, waiting for another one.
Then it’s all long days in the car
It has to be somewhere near or far.
Then you arrive
Over land or sea
Then you arrive, new like me
Relearn how to fit in, memorize new places
Find your people at school, recognize new faces
Soon as you find your ground
It’s time to pack up and go
And relearn all the things you heard and saw and the people that you know.
It’s a never ending cycle of travel that some would call lucky,
Some would love it, but I call it lonely.
Because people like me are dandelion seeds, trying to find a place to belong,
Trying to put down roots hoping nothing will go wrong.
And maybe one day we will, but that’s still far away
And all you have to do is try be happy with today,
You bloom were you are planted, if it’s right
And wherever your travels take you, let this be a light.
