"The rotunda sits tall on the grounds of UVA, a well known landmark of the town, and a place tourists flock to visit. Years ago, we visited the rotunda when I lived in Maryland, and it seemed so grand, so important. Now from the perspective of having moved and living 15 minutes from it, it’s a lot less impressive because I see it everyday. We often take things for granted when we get to used to them, which is why being a military BRAT had taught me to appreciate everything around me."
